Our Journey Starts Here
Our first encounter (April 2020)
We first crossed paths online in 2020 during a COVID seminar hosted by the Indonesian Embassy. Brigita shared her medical expertise with Indonesians residing in the UK, and Petra was among the attendees. At the time, both of us were pursuing master’s degrees in the UK—Brigita in London and Petra in Oxford. Through social media, Petra got to know Brigita, but with our focus on studies and career aspirations, we left things as they were—acquaintances on social media.
Our first meeting (January 2023)
In early January 2023, Petra took the first step by reaching out to Brigita on Instagram. From the very start, our conversations went beyond small talk, diving into life’s deeper questions and meaningful discussions—highlighting how much we had in common. London’s St James Park Starbucks café became our silent witness when we met for the first time in late January 2023. Brigita was then a second-year PhD student in London, and Petra was a professional worker in the energy industry in Aberdeen, Scotland. Despite the 881 km distance and the harsh Aberdonian weather, Petra’s fervour to pursue his dream woman remained undeterred—an endeavour that turned out to be favourable in the sight of God and men.
Seeking God’s direction (September 2023)
Having prayed and walked with God, Petra left the Aberdonian Highlands and moved down to London to pursue his love. However, the journey was not without its challenges. Brigita, whilst enjoying their thought-provoking conversations, seemed hesitant and uninterested in a relationship at the time. Yet Petra remained steadfast, determined to win her heart through patience and perseverance. Albeit with some hiccups at the beginning of the journey, by God’s grace, they finally got together.
Engagement (27 July 2024)
Ever since we started dating in January 2024, we did not dilly-dally on our relationship; we went straight into deep talks to know each other’s vision and character. In July 2024, we decided to be engaged. We could feel the grace of God fell upon our two families in the Sangjit ceremony, which is a further impetus for a more serious phase of the relationship.
Wedding (11 January 2025)
By the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, we will be holding our holy matrimony and wedding reception on 11 January 2025. At the heartfelt request of our families, this special day will be held in Bandung—a city close to our hearts and the place where we both grew up.
Thank You!
See you on our big day!
Petra & Brigita
“But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
